3s to 5s
We believe that it is our responsibility to introduce preschoolers to their Heavenly Father. They will particpate in several creative, fun activities designed to help them better understand the key truth of the day through a hands-on experience. Before they leave Discover, we want them to know:
God loves me.
God made me.
Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
Every month we focus on one of these three basic truths. As soon as children walk in the door, they particpate in a Make It Fun activity that is designed to grab their attention. They will participate in worship where they are encourged to sing and dance and then hear a creative presentation of a Bible story. Following worship and story time, they will break into small groups where they will tak about what they've learned that day and what it means to their young lives. They will also pray together as we teach them what it means to talk to God.
Parents
While we seek to teach your children about God, we know that no one has more influence in their lives than you do. We want to partner with you to help them learn more about their Heavenly Father.
Parent Cue is our monthly preschool communication piece for parents. You can pick up a copy of the Parent Cue handout on the classroom doors. It will tell you what your children learned that day, including the key truth and bottom line for the month. This resource provides creative ideas that will help you take advantage of the teachable moments in your home and reinforce what was taught on Sunday morning. You are the best teacher for your children, so use the acitivites to talk about God with them all week at home.
Other Items to Note
We occasionally provide snacks in the Pre-K room. When we are serving something, you will see a note posted on the door of the classroom. If your children have any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform the teachers.
If your children are potty training, please communicate that to the teachers and bring an extra change of clothes. Please label all items that belong to your children. Volunteers are never allowed in the bathrooms alone with children. They will assist them with clothing as needed outside the door and with handwashing afterwards.
Please do not bring extra toys as it is very difficult to keep track of them and it causes unnecessary stress and frustration when children are asked to share with others.
Children will be promoted to the next classroom based on the school calendar. Promotion takes place in June.
