2s

We are excited to have your children in Discover. This is a fun and active stage in their lives. Our teaching plan begins in this classroom. All activities are age-appropriate with plenty of flexibility for the normal needs of two year olds. Our curriculum is centered on three basic truths:

God loves them.

God made them.

Jesus wants to be their friend forever.

We focus on one of these basic truths each month. Each week your children will sings songs and hear a Bible story that will help them understand the key truth for the morning. Your two year olds will also participate in several age-appropriate, creative activities throughout the morning. We believe in an active, hands-on approach with our kids, so be on the lookout for those fun projects!

Parents

While we seek to teach your children about God, we know that no one has more influence in their lives than you do. We want to partner with you to help them learn more about their Heavenly Father.

Parent Cue is our monthly preschool communication piece for parents. You can pick up a copy of the Parent Cue handout on the classroom doors. It will tell you what your children learned that day, including the key truth and bottom line for the month. This resource provides creative ideas that will help you take advantage of the teachable moments in your home and reinforce what was taught on Sunday morning. You are the best teacher for your children, so use the acitivites to talk about God with them all week at home.

Other Items to Note

We provide toys, activities and snacks in the classrooms. We usually serve Goldfish in the 2's class. If we are serving something else, you will find a note posted outside of your children's classroom informing you of the new food item. If your children have any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform the teachers and feel free to bring appropriate snacks for them.

Be sure to bring extra diapers and a change of clothes. Label all items, including cups, snacks, diapers, pacifiers, etc. If your children are potty training, please be sure to communicate that to the teacher. Volunteers are never allowed in the bathroom alone with children. They will assist them with clothing as needed outside the door and with handwashing afterwards.

Please do not bring extra toys as it is very difficult to keep track of them and it causes unnecessary stress and frustration when children are asked to share with others.

Children will be promoted to the next classroom based on the school calendar. Promotion takes place in June.
